Taniwha Role | Kiwi Sport

Learning Intention : 
To follow Coach Chanice's rules because she was explaing hat we had to do .

Today ( 28\2\2019 ) The year 5s had kiwi Sport with our coach chanice . Today we played 3 games but the first one was when all of the year sixes had to get into a cricle but not in front of the tupu and we had got given a ball and we had to try and throw the ball to the tupu and we also had to make sure that everyone had got a turn and if we had a turn then we would have to step out of the game so that coach chanice knew who hasn't had a turn and she was also us as well , it took us 1 minute and 30 seconds to do that . The secound game we played Was when we got divided into to groups and 1 group had to save the wife and the other group that to tag the person that would try and save the wife But if you had gotten tagged then you would become a wife to and someone will have to save you . A while later we had to switch over . But then the Last Game that we played was girls vs Boys and basically their was a ball involved and if the girls had the ball then a girl would have to try and tag a boy but we were not aloud to run with the ball .


Why Did We Play these Games ? 
I think that We played these game's to Get a better idea of what ki O rahi is and who was involved in the ki o Rahi game because Ki o rahi is a legendary game  .

What Did You Learn ? 
I learned the basic way how to play Ki O Rahi on the field .

Kiwi Can

LI: To listen to instructions just in case that we don't do the wrong action . 
On Wednesday the 27th of February   3rd week of kiwi can .  Today we had 1 kiwi can leader instead of 2 our kiwi can leader \ teacher that we had was Miss paige . At first we talked about how we could make communications and who we could make the communications with . The way that i could make communications is by talking to someone and the person i would probably try to communicate with would be a family member or anyone .  Then we played 1 energizer to get us warmed up , the energizer was called Fruit salad.  So how to play this game is you have to spread out and someone would have to say apple and then you have to move your hip .If someone would say banana then your have to move your hip right . But if someone said watermelon then you will bend your back to go back . Thenwe played a game and it was called hand soccer .So basically this was just like soccer but we had to use 1 hand . 

What did you Learn ? 
I learned a lot of ways on how to communicate with people without talking .

Music

LI: To Make a chord with a ukulele   . 
Yesterday we had Music with Miss whea odie. But this week was different because we have recently been using Chimebars , Pianos and xylophones  , But yesterday we used ukuleles . At first we went into room 7 and we had to sit by a ukulele that we wanted to play  . Then miss whea odie helped us learn the notes which were  C ,G A & F . Once we got the hang of playing notes on a ukulele miss whea odie our music teacher  would sing a song either  The lazy song by Bruno mars Or One call away and while she would be singing either of those songs then she would say a note and we had to play it while she was singing .

What Did you learn ?
I learned how to play chords on a Ukulele .

How did you Learn ? 
I learned this by Listening to Miss whea odie because she was telling us which chord to play and how to play that chord .

Keeping ourself Safe .

This week for inquiry we are learning about keeping our self's safe . At first we got given a paper and we had to write down safe things to do when your , Sad embarrassed or angry , we had to do these in groups of 3 . The people in my group were shinaye and Aliqwa . Then we also had safety cards that we hate to rate , in groups of 4 . So basically their was a goggle doc made by our teacher and their was questions on it , we had to rate it if it was safe or not . The ratings were out of 1 to 5 , 1 being very safe and 5 not being safe at all . We had to rate this all together as a group . We also had to find a buddy to do the Types of touch with but they had find the person that has the oposite gender as us . The types of touch were confuesed touch , Happy touch and touch that hurts .
LI: To keep ourself'es safe





Ki o Rahi

LI : To learn the areas of the field in Ki o rahi . Today for kiwi sport we learned how to play Ki o Rahi on the field , Te roto was the lake \ sea , Teata was the ice bridge and pou was the teeth . At first our coach shanice told us to go some where and we would go their but if we went to the wrong place then we would have to do 5 star jumps .We also had to make a poster explaining Ki O rahi Here is my poster .



Chords & Notes

This week for music we learned about chords and notes , The song that the chords and notes was based on was the song "Shot gun" and " One call away " .At first we got the choice to chose an instrument to play , I played a xylophone . The chords that we played were  C  , F , G and A . But at first Miss whea odie ( our music teacher)  she would sing the song either shot gun or one call away and while she was singing that song she would yell out the chord we will have to play and how many times we would have to play it .

What Did you Learn ?
I learned how to play chords with a Xylophone .

How did you Learn ?
I learned this by listening to miss whea odie because she was saying the chords and notes that we had to do .

Information about the number 15

LI: To pick a number out of 100 and write about that number .
This week for maths we are learning about numbers . at first we had to get into small groups of three , find a number , make a poster and find information about that number .  My group was made with Alayah & Spelman , and our number was 15 . The information about the number could be related to reading , writing or math questions .We also had to write down on our poster what it was if it was a math's question so for an example if it was 8 + 7 than that would be addition . Also Read my DLO to find more ways to make 15 using math's questions .




Active Listening

Learning intention :
  To use Active listening to be a good listener and communicate . 

Today it was our second week for kiwi can in term 1 . Our kiwi can leaders \ teachers  were Miss page and Mr alapati . All of the games \ energizers that we played were related to Active Listening because the games & energizers we had had a lot of rules . 

What Did you Learn? 
I learned more about positive communications .

How did you Learn ? 
I learned this By listening to our kiwi can teachers \ leaders Miss Page and Mr alapati because they explained how to play our energizers and games . 
Remote Control 
After that  we played the energizer which was called remote control , so basically how to play this game is that we had to get into a circle and Mr alapati would call out play or slow motion or stop and for an example if he had said play that we would had to just walk around( we could use the whole space )
Chop suey Salute 
Then the game that we played was called chop Suey salut So Mr alapati would say a number and we would do an action so for an example if he said 1 then we would have to do one punch if he said 2 then we would have to do 2 punches but if he said 3 then we would have to do 2 punches and one kick then it went on from their .

Recount



Learning Intention:  
to plan and write a recount . 

This week for writing Ls1 had to make a recount about what we did over the holidays . I wrote about my trip to Kaputuhi . It was really fun their . Me and my family went their for my papa granddad's unveiling because he had passed away . At first we had to put all of our ideas on a piece of paper and the recount had to have TREE in it . If you do not no what TREE means it means Title , Reveal ,Events and Ending , we had to include all of these things into our story . 
( These story had to be made by independently) 

Learning Intention: 
To write a recount about what you did over the holidays .

LI- To Display Data on a graph to make a statement about the
information shown on the graph.
LS1 made 6 graphs. 4 digital and 2 hand drawn in groups of 5.


Why Does a graph have a title? | A graph needs a title to
explain what the graph would be about .


Labels: One axis has a label which shows the choices.
One axis has a label that shows the amount of people who has it.

Music

This week we had our first lesson of Music with miss whea odie . We learned the basics of trying to play notes and chords . we learned these chords and notes by having the choice to play a piano or a xylophone  . I chose a xylophone , once we chose an instrument Miss whea odie told us which note to use and then we would have to use that note but all at the same time . The notes that we had to used were C , F , A and G  . Once we got a hang of those notes she sang a song to use which was " shot gun " and while she was singing she would tell the note that we would have to play and we would have to play it all at the same time . We had to do 4 for each note . 


Learning Intention : 

To try and make chords and note by using the option of a xylophone or a piano . 






How To Make A Strong Password


This week for cyber smart we are learning about how to make safe passwords . At first we had to get into a group of 2  and with our group of 2 we had to make a poster telling on how to make a safe password . There had to be 5 steps on how to make a safe password  . The person that I partnered up with was Liletina and together we found 5 steps on how to make a safe password .  I think that we made these posters so that people do not hack your account because if people hack your account then they can send bad emails to people or that person could go on bad sites and you will be blamed for it . Also if you are going to make a password back sure to have a mixture of symbols , Lower cases , Capital letters and Numbers . 

Learning Intention :

Create a poster with 5 steps teaching on how to make a safe password . 



Ki o Rahi

Today the year 5's and 6's had kiwi sport with our new coach shanice .  At first we watched a video explaining what Ki o Rahi is and why it was made and the video also showed the story of Ki o Rahi .After we watched the video she asked us questions about Ki O Rahi like Why was it made and other questions related to the video . 

LI: 

To Learn the origin and the basics of Ki o Rahi  .

Why was the game Ki o Rahi made ? 

The game Ki O rahi was made to stop disagreements and to create peace and harmony . 

Games

The first  game that we played was called  8 pass .  To play this game the year 6's got split up into 2 groups one of the groups were called Kioma and the other group was called Taniwha . Kioma got the bibs and taniwha didn't got the bibs . At first Kioma got the ball and basically we had to pass the ball to people in our group but if we droped it we would have to give it to the other group ( Taniwha ) . Then whoever got the 8 passes would win , or get a point my group won which was kioma .

Kiwi Can

Today it was our first day for kiwi can in term one week 2 . Our kiwi can leaders \ teachers were Miss Paige and Mr Alapati .  At first we had to go and make a circle , then we talked about our theme and our Topic . Our theme is positive relationships and our topic is Positive communications . Then we talked about our Kiwi can rules . 1 of the rules were no talking while our kiwi can teachers are talking and there were much more . 
We also had a new catch phrase and it was " kiwi can says never give up and try your best " .  
Then we got straight into a energizer the first energizer that we played was called eyes up eyes down . So basically how you play this is you have to get into a circle (standing up ) and someone would say eyes up or eyes down . If someone said eyes down you will have to look down and then if that person then said eyes up than you will have to look at someone and if that person is looking at you your out but if that person isn't looking at you your still out . Another game that we played was called midnight  .basically at first we had to find yourself a partner then we had to number our self's off from 1 and 2 . Then one of our kiwi can teachers would call out a number and we would have to run around our partner and then run around our  circle and go in the middle into a hoop if our group was last then we would be out . Then we went inside and talked more about our theme and topic .

Chrome Set Up


This week for cyber smart we have been doing things related to our drive .
Here is a DLO of what we had to do .The first thing we had to do is make sure our keyboard settings were in the right place and had to make sure that it wasn't put in the wrong place. Take a look at my DLO and see what i mean .  After that we did our language settings then we did docs default and then our bookmarks .
