Maori - T4W9 - 2019

LI: to learn how to say numbers and write them in maori .


This week we had our second to last session of maori . we learned how to say and write numbers in maoris other then 1 to 10 .

this week for maths we had to tell the time in maori and also write down the months & days in maori . at first with miss weha odie she said in maori whats our name , our parents names & our grand parents names . for me this activaty was a bit easy because i know most my days in maori .

This week for maori we learned how to use a poi . We had to translate words that miss whea odie used when she teached us the basics on how to use a poi .We also had to translate a song but i never got up to that part .

This week for maori i had to write down the places where students in LS1 and where my mum dad , granddad & nana where from . I learned more bout where some students in my class are from .

LI: to ask students in LS1 where they come from and to also remember where me & my parents came from .

this morning LS1 had another session of maori . This week for maori we had to watch a video about macrons .The video talked about long voweled words and macrons are used to make a word sound longer for an example "Mā Te Wā" .

This morning LS1 had another session of maori with miss whea odie which is our maori teacher . We had to watch a video and find out what the words they said in English . For me this task was easy because im maori and can understand but some of the words i had to use the maori dictionary .

This morning LS1 group B had maori and we had to talk about our favorite food . At first miss whea odie our maori teacher she gave us a word search and we had to find the words that were on the word search . everyone finished the word search so after that we had to make a poster about our favorite foods or things we like eating . i listed my favourite lollies .

LI: To learn about Patupaiarehe  Fairies and the geography of aotearoa.

Today we had maori and we read a book called ihenga but we had to make a poster about patupaiarehe . Patupaiarehe are fairy's that live in deep forests in new zealand . They Have special powers that are singing and strength . Apparently If u go near one and they touch u u will turn into a patupaiarehe like them but if u rub fish oil on yourself u will be safe . The Ihenga story talked about patupaiarehe so thats why students had to make a poster explaining

Today we had our first lesson of maori term 2 with miss Whea Odie .
At first we Miss Whea Odie Read us a book .
Then after that we had to get our chrome books and go on google maps and search up Kaimani , Waimpou river , Maungatapu ,And Hoiriri .
After that we had to make a pepeha about yourself.

This week for maori Miss whea odie shared us a google doc and we had to find out where it was from and the inglish name of it . At first she put on some christmas songs and we had to try and guess the song im english my seeing in the tune was recodnisable .  Some of the songs that she played were jingle bell rock , Santa claus is comming to town , Rupolph the  red nose raindeeer etc then we started doing the google doc that miss whea odie sent to us using her device . Once she sent it to us we started finding were that place was from and started finding the english name . This is not the whole list but I could not fin ish all of it so this is some that i finished and the ones I got right .

This week for maori we got givvn an activavity to do from whea odie our Maori teacher . The activaty was when we got given a list and the list was on the right hand side and then their were words at the bottom of the google docs and we had to find the meanings of them here are all of the meanings of the words . For an example if the word was Te aroha on the right hand side the word The love would be te aroha . After we tryed it we got called to the mat from miss whea odie and she told us the answers to the activaty i am not sure how much i got wrong and how much i got right.

This week for maori with Miss Whea Odie she made a list of words written in maori, we also had to try and say a whole sentence said and written in maori . We also got sent a list of words written in maori we also had to make sure that the words on the left hand side were spelled right and on the right hand side had to have the real meaning of  the word .

Today for maori with whea odie ( our Maori teaches that teaches LS1 Maori ) We had to make a poster with a budy showing foods , vegetables fishes and much more . The budy that I chose was Ellenora . Once we got into groups of 2 miss whea odie made a list of vegetables , fruits , fishes and meats in english and maori , But when we made our poster it couldn't me write in english it had to be made in maori .

This week for maori we are learning about paikea with Miss Whea odie our school maori teacher . at first she read us a book I forgot what it was called but it had something linked to paikea . This activity made it really easy for maori people that have watched the movie wale rider because there is a lot of information about paikea in it because paikea is a wale .

On Wednesday we had maori with Miss Whea Odie . She read us a book and it was called paikea . Paikea is a maori Ancestor .( she is a lady ) After she read us the book she told us to go on google maps and find where Whangara is . And where the school is . This book was inappropriate for me and other kids in my class thought that but the book was a good book that read to me and half of my class .

Today for maori we made cat cattle's with string .
We had to mad diamonds , a parachute a cup and salsa and the sky tower  .Miss whea odie . This week was our second to last week for maori . At first this was really confusing for me at first but our maori teach ( whea odie ) helped me . The parachute was a little bit easy , the cup and salsa was easy , the sky tower was a little tricky and the 2 diamonds were challenging .

Today we had maori and we had to make a weave fish . 

We had to go on google maps and write up whataitai , Petone , Te awa kair angi , Whanga nui a tara ,  matiu island , Wgtn airport ,  and rarangi fish . We also had to watch a video on how to make a weave fish . 

Mrs whea odie had also read us a story called The tanwha of wellington harbou r.

Today for maori we talked about the maori new year which is Matariki .
Our Maori teacher is called whea odie .
Our teacher Whea odie gave us a word search and it was all in maori and we had to find the maori words . The maori new year is on friday the 15th of June .Miss whea odie 

Learning Intention : Was to listen to our teacher whea odie and to learn about the 7 stars of matariki . 

What did you learn ? I learned how to sing songs that i have never heard before .

Today for maori we were learning about the maori New year . We have our maori in our class. our maori teacher is whea odie . We had to watch story about the matariki . we also had to get buddies with a partner and we had to watch videos about matariki . We also sang some songs and I also learned some of the names of the matariki stars which are Waiti , Waita , Waipunu -arangi  , Tupuanuku, Uururangi and matariki . Matariki is a family of stars they similise the maori new year .Tango tango and wainui are the parents of the seven matariki stars .Matariki are 7 sister stars .
